The UFC has enlisted a lightweight contest for its return to Australia.
American Devonte Smith will take on South Korean Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 234 on February 10, per ESPN.
Smith (9-1) is an alumnus of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series where he stopped Joseph Lowry with elbows in the first round to secure a UFC contract. In his first and only fight for the promotion thus far, he defeated Julian Erosa via TKO in 46 seconds.
Kim (16-8-3) hasn’t fought since the last Australian pay-per-view card in February at UFC 221. He’s on a three-fight roll having picked up wins over Damien Brown, Takanori Gomi and Brendan O’Reilly.
UFC 234 takes place at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on February 10. It will be headlined by a middleweight title fight between champion Robert Whittaker and challenger Kelvin Gastelum.
