New Zealand has a brand new world UFC middleweight champion and his name is Israel Adesanya from City Kickboxing Gym in Auckland.
Adesanya proved that the hype is real and not just talk, as he knocks Robert Whittaker to the canvas within the second round of their main-event fight at UFC 243 in Melbourne to claim the middleweight world title.
Whittaker was saved by the bell on the end of first round, after Adesanya overpowered him to the mat within the last second of the round.
It was another epic stand up clash in the second round. However, Robert wasn’t as lucky within the second knock down, when Adesanya caught him lunging and put him away with a combo shot that immediately forced the referee to step in.
A great day for City Kickboxing Gym with Dan Hooker and Brad Riddell winning their fights, showcasing a flawless outing at UFC 243 in Melbourne’s Marvel stadium.
