As he’d hoped, Jim Crute will make his UFC debut on home soil.
The UFC announced today that the Australian light heavyweight prospect has been booked to face Scotland’s Paul Craig at UFC Adelaide on December 2.
Crute earned his UFC contract last month with a first round TKO win over Chris Birchler on ‘Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.’
The undefeated 22-year-old will face a skilled grappler in Craig, who is 10-2 with 9 wins coming by way of submission. In his last fight against Magomed Ankalaev, “Bearjew” secured the latest submission finish in a three-round fight in history at 4:59 in the third round.
Craig’s first professional loss came at the hands – or elbows – of fellow Australian, Tyson Pedro, who stopped him in the first round last March at UFC 209.
Crute took to social media to comment on the announcement, saying “Nothing but respect. But this is business and business will be handled.”
UFC Adelaide or UFC Fight Night 142 will be held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia on December 2.
A flyweight bout between Ben Nguyen and former title contender Wilson Reis has also been booked for the card.
