UFC 234 has it’s first female bout.
Australia’s own Nadia Kassem will face Montana De La Rosa in a flyweight bout at UFC 234 which takes place at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on February 10. The news was first reported by The Daily Telegraph.
Kassem (5-0) made her UFC debut last November where she defeated fellow Aussie Alex Chambers via unanimous decision. That fight was scheduled to take place at strawweight, however Kassem missed weight by 4lbs. It was her first fight to make it to the final bell, having stopped all her previous opponents via TKO inside the first round.
The 23-year-old from Western Sydney trains out of Australian Top Team with UFC fighters Ashkan and Suman Moktarian.
Montana De La Rosa (9-4) is currently on a two-fight win streak with submission wins over Rachael Ostovich and Christina Marks.
De La Rosa was featured on season 26 of The Ultimate Fighterwhere she made it to the quarter-finals before losing via unanimous decision to Nicco Montaño who went on to win the season finale and the UFC’s inaugural women’s flyweight title.
UFC 234 will be headlined by a middleweight fight between Australia’s first UFC champion Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum.
