The first two bouts scheduled for the UFC’s return to Philadelphia will take place in the strawweight division.
ESPN confirmed with UFC President Dana White that Michelle Waterson will face Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC on ESPN 2 on March 31 (AU). The event, which will be held at the Wells Fargo Center, will be the UFC’s first visit to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 2011.
Waterson (16-6) has banked a two-fight win streak with decision wins over Felice Herrig and Cortney Casey last year.
Kowalkiewicz (12-3) looks to rebound from a first-round knockout loss to Jessica Andrade in September. Before that, the Polish fighter had picked up two-straight wins over Felice Herrig and Jodie Esquibel.
Additionally, Alexa Grasso (10-2) will face Marina Rodriguez (10-0), which was first reported by Combate. The pair were originally scheduled to fight on UFC Fight Night 144 on February 3 (AU) but was postponed after Rodriguez suffered a hand injury.
